On 21 to 24 May, the Ag Head of Mission/Force Commander Major General Benjamin Sawyerr and UNISFA leadership team visited Juba and held high-level meetings with officials of the Government of South Sudan (GOSS). The delegation engaged with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Minister of East African Affairs, and the Inspector General of Police of the South Sudan National Police Service, among other officials.

The meetings focused on pertinent issues affecting Abyei with a focus on the presence of the South Sudan People's Defense Forces' (SSPDF) in the southern part of Abyei and developments related to their presence.

The delegation also addressed the ongoing logistical challenges facing the mission, with the team urging for ease of movement of its supplies to ensure the effective implementation of the mission mandate.  The engagements with the GOSS officials are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen UNISFA mandate implementation.
