As part of his familiarization tour of the Area of Operation, the Acting Head of Mission/Force Commander, Major General Robert Yaw Affram, along with the Mission Leadership Team visited Diffra on 18 July to gain insight into the situation in the northern part of Abyei.

The delegation met with the Khartoum-appointed Deputy Chief Administrator and AJOC Executive Secretary Ambani Hamadouk, the Director of the Humanitarian Aid Commission Bakhtan Alduqm Bakhtan, and the Deputy Director of Chief Administrator, Hamdi Aldodou.

He also met with representatives of the Misseriya traditional leaders, civil society, and the Joint Community Peace Committee (JCPC). Among the key issues discussed included the security situation in the area and the impact of the conflict in Sudan.

The leaders urged increased humanitarian assistance in the area to address significant shortages in various sectors and committed to greater collaboration with UNISFA. In his address, Major General Affram emphasized the importance of continued cooperation and reaffirmed UNISFA's commitment to fulfilling its mandate and supporting the communities.
