On 14 and 15 May, Major General Cheryl Ann Pearce, the newly appointed Acting Military Advisor for UN Peacekeeping Operations, visited UNISFA to familiarize with the operational activities of the mission firsthand.

During her visit, Major General Pearce toured UNISFA sectors and engaged with PAKBATT, INDBATT, VMCMC and GHANBATT peacekeepers where she was briefed on the key issues in the Area of Operation and the general security situation. She also interacted with the mission leadership and was briefed on the general situation in Abyei.

Major General Pearce met with key community leaders in Abyei where they discussed the prevailing situation in Abyei and collaboration with UNISFA. She reaffirmed UNISFA's commitment to ensuring security and stability in Abyei and the need for collaboration to effectively address implement UNISFA mandate and address any challenges.
