Ghanaian Battalion takes over from Ethiopian Battalion in Kadugli

A handover ceremony between the Ghanaian and Ethiopian battalions was held at the Joint Border Verification and Monitoring Mechanism (JBVMM) headquarters in Kadugli on 15 February 2022. The ceremony marked the formal handing over and taking over of operational duties between ETHBATT and GHANBATT. The incoming Chief of JBVMM, Brig Gen Atogebakoga Alobawone presided over the ceremony.

In his remarks, Brig. Gen, Alobawone, commended ETHBATT for their tenacity and commitment to duty and ensuring the safety and security of their area of responsibility during their tour. He praised them for the smooth handing over process between the two contingents.

Brig Gen Alobawone, urged GHANBATT to continue with the good work undertaken by ETHBATT to ensure the safety and security of personnel and equipment in and out of the UNISFA Logistics Base.

Present at the ceremony were Staff Officers and UNMOs at the JBVMM HQ, National Monitors from Sudan and South Sudan, and UNDSS.
