Women and youth representatives at the Aweil Conference have called on their leaders to put aside their differences and embrace peace. They decried the continued violence and criminality in Abyei Area saying that they are the most impacted. They appealed to the leaders to conclude the conference with a resolution ensuring the inclusion and participation of women and youth in all future peace processes and negotiations.
The four-day peace conference between the Ngok Dinka and Misseriya in Aweil (22-25 Feb), is addressing critical issues affecting the two communities that hinder peaceful coexistence. Among the issues are curbing of acts of criminality in Abyei Area and resolving of disagreements.
