27 Jan 2023 - Abyei, 27 January 2023 – UNISFA welcomes the decisions reached during the ordinary session of the Joint Political and Security Mechanism (JPSM) meeting of 18 January 2023 and is encouraged by the parties’ “unwavering commitment to the full implementation of the Cooperation Agreements and the Agreement on Security Arrangements” signed by the Sudan and South Sudan in 2012.
08 Jan 2023 - Abyei, 08 January 2023. On 6 January 2023, a joint UNISFA search team, in collaboration with representatives of the Abyei Community Protection Committee (CPC), recovered the dead bodies of the two missing Misseriya traders, who were abducted on 30 December 2022. Both murdered bodies were found on the outskirts of Abyei Town, near Banton.
05 Jan 2023 - Abyei, 05 January 2023 Corrigendum – A combined armed group of Nuer and Twic Dinka launched an early morning attack on the Rumamier village, in sector south of the Abyei Box, killing at least fourteen persons and injuring four others (all Ngok Dinkas) while some 37 houses in the village were burnt down.

19 May 2022 - 19 May 2022, Entebbe, Uganda – In a major breakthrough, the Misseriya and Ngok Dinka traditional leaders have signed a peace accord reiterating their commitment to achieving lasting peace in Abyei Area. The leaders committed to advocating for inter-community dialogue to promote the protection of women and children as well as livestock and property.
