This has led to the loss of life and is causing untold humanitarian suffering on the people as well as reversing gains made towards achieving peaceful coexistence in Abyei.

  • 15 Jul 2020 - Abyei, 15 July 2020 – The attention of United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) is drawn to a news story by Radio Debanga captioned ‘Peacekeeper killed in Southern Sudan”, in which a UNISFA peacekeeper is said to have been shot dead in Sudan. at Kadugli, Southern Kordofan, on Monday, 13 July 2020.
  • 16 Apr 2020 - The United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) strongly condemns the organised armed attack by Misseriya on Mabok village in southern Abyei on 13 April which resulted in the death of four Ngok Dinka and kidnapping of one child while some 50 dwellings in the village were burnt down.
  • 10 Apr 2020 - The United Nations’ Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) facilitated two meetings between the Ngok Dinka and Misseriya traditional leaders at Diffra on 16 March and 9 April.

    08 Nov 2019 - An unknown armed group launched an early morning attack on the Ngok Dinka village of Miodol, 29 kilometres north-east of Abyei town, killing seven persons, (four males and three females all Ngok Dinkas) on 7 November 2019. Two male Dinkas were wounded in the attack while two others were abducted by the gunmen.
  • 16 Jul 2019 - The United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA)’s Acting Head of Mission/Force Commander, Major General Mehari Zewde Gebremariam, strongly condemns the unprovoked attack by a group of unknown armed men on UNISFA peacekeepers providing security at the Amiet market in which one Ethiopian soldier was killed and another critically wounded.
