19 May 2022 - 19 May 2022, Entebbe, Uganda – In a major breakthrough, the Misseriya and Ngok Dinka traditional leaders have signed a peace accord reiterating their commitment to achieving lasting peace in Abyei Area. The leaders committed to advocating for inter-community dialogue to promote the protection of women and children as well as livestock and property.

16 Mar 2022 - Abyei, 16 March 2022 – The Force Commander/Acting Head of Mission for the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), Major General Benjamin Olufemi Sawyerr has officially taken over from Ethiopia’s Major General Kefyalew Amde Tessema who has served the mission for close to two years. Major General Sawyerr took over on 15 March and will lead the newly reconfigured multinational peacekeeping mission.
